Memorial for a Swimming Pool

This is a powerful image Hannah...I thought about it today and had to come on here and comment. I like the way it shows time, both longterm and short, with the broken statue and the peeling billboard. I like that the only word still intact is "fat." How the sun shines through from the back, illuminating a billboard we can't see, is even better.

Thanks Shawn. Sometimes I worry about venturing into cliche with all my Stumptown sentimentality, but it's all stranger than fiction.

Why does everybody fear cliche so much? Especially artist? I think cliche is often born out of the most fundamental truths.

I've argued the same thing. Cliche needs to be examined. The artist has to be in control, or at least aware, of the power of re-purposed image, story or idiom.
